KNM webinar Nitrogen Deposition in the Netherlands

Praktische informatie

  • ¬†Online

The Wageningen Environmental Studies Alumni Association (KNM) organizes a series of webinars on current topics in environmental sciences, open for all interested alumni, students and others.

In the Netherlands, excessive nitrogen deposition poses huge problems to vulnerable nature, which does not meet international agreements. This has resulted in the suspension of e.g. building permits, and to increased efforts to reduce this deposition. In this KNM webinar 3 scientists will share their insights and experiences.

How to overcome the problems of Nitrogen Deposition in the Netherland?

Emission, deposition, impact and mitigation options 20 min

Prof. dr. ir. Wim de Vries is professor at Wageningen University in the discipline of environmental systems analysis. His research is mainly organized around impacts of the input of nutrients (especially nitrogen and  phosphorus) in agriculture on air, soil and water quality, greenhouse gas emissions and nature quality.

Modelling Nitrogen Deposition: 10 min

Jerry Ge (MSc) is a PhD researcher and researches, amongst others, how to use satellites to improve modelling the NH3 deposition in the Netherlands.

Wageningen Regional Development Approach: 5 min

Drs Tia Hermans (senior scientist at Wageningen Environmental Research) will tell about the Wageningen Regional Development Approach (in Dutch: Gebiedsgerichte Aanpak).

Please fill out the form below to register. Afterwards you will receive an e-mail confirmation with the link to the webinar. The activity is free of charge.

This is one out of a series of webinars which are organized by the KNM. Regularly check the website for other webinars and activities.
